To be honest I don’t remember that much about Barcelona, or really any other part of Spain that I visited. Spain was part of my second trip to Europe tour. Our EF tour guide was from Portugal, so I think he purposfully played up how wonderful Portugal was, and didn’t do as good of a job of showing us Spain. At the time I didn’t know how big of a rivalry there was between Spain and Portugal.
At first, I was very excited to visit Spain because I wanted a chance to brush up on my high school Spanish. I took my obligatory three years of Spanish in high school and remembered very little.
When I got to Spain I realized that I knew nothing. Everyone spoke so fast and I felt like I didn’t know any Spanish. It has been a dream of mine to learn a foreign language-but they are so difficult for me. I struggle with the vastness of the vocabulary and the conjugations of all those verbs.
Anyway, Barcelona was quite interesting. I loved the beautiful decorated buildings that looked like some modern architect went wild with gingerbread. I adored those colorful structures and mosaic tile.
Southern Spain was beautiful as well. I can’t wait to go back to Spain with someone who actually likes the country.
